Barcelona Car Parking
With such a great public transport system, you don’t really need a car in Barcelona. If you are travelling around Europe by road, however, you might need it. In this case, you will want to find somewhere to park while you are in the city. For this, you first should look to one of Barcelona’s many car parking facilities and only after that you will start looking for your favourite holiday apartments Barcelona.
The first thing you have to take care of before leaving your car is safety. There is some risk of damage or theft when you leave your car unattended anywhere. Should something happen to your car when in Barcelona, it could spoil your holiday. So, to prevent break-ins, always make sure the doors and windows are closed securely. If you can, try to park somewhere with CCTV, which should deter any would-be thieves.
If you don’t mind parking outside of the city centre then you can pay much less. The least expensive car parks are on the outskirts of town and are run by B:SN. B:SN’s rates start from around €2 per hour. Although the three parking lots belonging to B:SN are a bit further out of town, they operate a ‘park and ride’ service. This means that you can hop right on a bus and be back in the city in a matter of minutes.
If you are going to be bringing your car into city you might want to look out for the P-Month Card. For only €41, this will grant you access to three of the city’s car parks for 12 hours a day from Monday to Saturday. The car parks include Placa del Forum, Sant Genis Vale d’Hebron and Rius i Taulet Fira.
For tourists staying only for a week, there is the P-8 day card. It gives you access to another B:SM car park at Barcelona Nord Bus Station for only €75. For this price you get eight day’s access to the lot.
You’ll find this lot right next to the metro station and it is one of the best locations to park in the city. If you leave your car here before enjoying the city you won’t find getting back a few days later a hassle. So, after you’ve picked up a few souvenirs from your time in Barcelona, you are but a short journey from your car.
If you want a car park you can take the car in and out of, however, this is not the card for you. The P-8 card only entitles you to park for eight consecutive days, meaning if you leave, the card is void.
It is common for people to bring camper vans to Barcelona as part of a European tour. To cater for the demands of these people is the camping car parking on the Ronda Litoral in an area called the Forum. You can have your car secured for just €17 a day and be satisfied that it is safe and secure.
Even in the unlikely circumstance that all other car parks are full, the airport is an option. It is the biggest car park in the city, with 12,000 spaces in total, so there should never be a shortage. Prices start from €18 per day for the first four days and €15 after that. A week’s stay will cost you around €115.
One last thing to remember before you decide to take the car is that it is going to cost you money. This price should be factored into your holiday costs before you leave. The last thing you want is to have to leave the city early because you can’t afford car parking.
Bringing the car to Barcelona might not be for everyone, but for those that can’t avoid it there should be no concerns over parking. In or outside of the city, there are lots of places to leave your car. Most parking in the city is reasonably priced, and is close enough to public transport so you can still get around easily. Just make sure you take account of parking prices before you leave.
